Francesco Woke Up Early
With Maureen Hyde, who illustrated many books in past decades,
including Gingerbread House’s three launch titles, Grandpa Loved,
Grandma’s Scrapbook, and Shh! The Whale Is Smiling, we are proud
to be in pre-production on Francesco Woke Up Early (working title),
an imagined moment from the boyhood of St. Francis of Assisi.
For many of the years since Maureen painted our first books, which have
become modern classics, she has dedicated herself to the advancement of
her craft by reviving and teaching authentic Old Master techniques at
The Florence Academy of Art, in Italy.
We think you’ll be enchanted--and perhaps even astounded--by the extraordinary work this American artist is accomplishing on this book.
