Katalin Szegedi
Katalin Szegedi graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts where she majored in Applied Graphics and Book Design, earning her Master of Arts Degree in 1991. That same year, she began illustrating books in her native Hungary. In 1994, Katalin was awarded a scholarship to study in Rome, where she worked on her style.
For some years, Kata taught graphic design and illustration to young artists. In 2001, she began creating illustrations for book publishers, and her work immediately won her Hungary’s prestigious “The Most Beautiful Children’s Book” prize. Amazingly, this distinction--The Hungarian equivalent to the American Caldecott Medal--was repeated in 2003.
Kata is married, has three children, and is a proud grandmother. She runs the dynamic Facebook-based “Katalin Szegedi Club,” hosting workshops, salons, and engaging, interactive art events.
Ms. Szegedi has published The Weight of a Mass, A Tale of Faith and its companion volume, Take It to the Queen, A Tale of Hope with Gingerbread House.
